AB - Cervantes used the subject matter of the “night” as an element that the real world change the fantastical world. An adventure of “batn” in the 20th chapter of 『Don Quijote 1』 shows danger and humor because of night. That is to say, after dark progress its story, darkness appeal to the sense of hearing than the sense of sight. The darkness and the auditory made the happening. ‘The night’ breaks a common idea that ‘only visible things is truth’. ‘The darkness’ was immanent danger and fear, but sublimate as humor. And it shows sensuous story that stimulate the sense of hearing and smell. In 『Los trabajos de Persiles y Sigismunda』 show an image of the night through the dream. ‘The nignt’ and ‘a feeling of uneasiness’ collapse an division of fantasy and reality. The night symbolize unreliability. This is ambiguous division of the essence and the inessence. It is as an illusion that be hallucinated the subject It causes vision and fantasy. In conclusion, Cervantes reflected to his work image of the night as an element that reality change fantasy.
