A Motive and Distinctive Feature for Writing in Won-chok-Chi

본고는 아직까지 학계에서 본격적인 논의대상이 되지 못한 이화여대 도서관 소장 <원촉지>의 서지적 특징을 소개하고 작품 창작의 동인과 특징적 양상을 살펴보았다. 19세기 향유 작품으로 확인되는 <원촉지>는 현전 유일본이지만 그나마도 권3과 권4로 추정되는 낙질본으로 전한다. 권4로 추정되는 책은 작품의 결말이 아니어서 또한 <원촉지>는 권5 이상의 장편으로 추정된다. 낙질 유일본이라는 제약으로 말미암아 작품의 전모를 파악할 수 없다는 한계가 있다. 그러나 현전하는 두 책만으로도 <원촉지>는 그 창작의 특징적 양상을 몇 가지 드러내고 있다. 이에 본고가 주목한 것은 우선 <원촉지>가 <삼국지연의>에 대한 반론을 형상화하고자 창작된 작품이라는 점인데, 이러한 창작 방식은 한글 대장편 연작소설들에서 확인되는 것과 동일하다. 다음으로는 <원촉지>가 작품의 제재나 분량에 있어 유사성이 있는 <강태공전>과 <개벽연의>를 활용하고 있다는 점에서 작가가 연쇄적인 소설 독서를 유도하고 있음을 추론하였다. 마지막으로 <원촉지>는 작품의 주제를 효과적으로 형상화하는 주요한 소설 장치로서 주석을 활용하고 있다는 점 이상 세 가지이다.

This study explores a motive and distinctive features for writing in Won-chok-Chi. Won-chok-Chi collected in Ewha women’s university is the unique but a lacking volume. It is presumed to be more than 5 volumes and enjoyed in 19th century. A motive for writing Won-chok-Chi is the denial of Won-chok-Chi’s ending, this kind of creating form is put a finger on korean roman-fleuves through composed. Next, Won-chok-Chi’s author seemed to purpose a chain reading kang-tae-gong-jeon and kae-pyeok-yeon-yee which had similar subject matter and length to Won-chok-Chi. Lastly commentary is used as a form of expression in Won-chok-Chi.
