The purpose of this study is to consider whether vocabulary list of Russian curriculum was chosen appropriately. For this purpose, the study investigated the following factors: ① comparison among words in the russian curriculum's basic vocabulary list, The Lexical Minimum of Russian as a Foreign Language, the russian textbook's words, and words used in 7 previous national tests ② comparison of high-frequency words in the Russian national corpus. Based on the findings above, this study suggests that it would be an effective way to learn Russian if curriculum developers select vocabulary on the basis of frequency and usefulness. Because high-frequency words would have to be considered important because they have occurred far more times than other words in communications. But curriculum developers are able to choose low-frequency words if they are more efficient for the russian education. And this vocabulary list would be helpful for students to experience authentic russian learning.
