문이 글은 다문화 시대를 살아가고 있는 오늘 우리가 다문화 현상을 어떻게 바라보아야 할 것인지에 대해 논의하고자 한다. 특히 다문화 현상을 그저 ‘바라보는’ 차원, 혹은 ‘해석하는’ 차원에만 머무르는 것이 아니라, 우리의 생활세계의 일부분 혹은 우리 사회 공동체의 한 구성원이 되도록 하기 위해 그것 혹은 그들을 ‘수용하는’ 차원에 대해 논의하고자 한다. 이를 위해서 필자는 다문화 현상의 한 예로서 ‘동성애’ 문제에 주목하였고, 우리 사회, 특히 기독교계에서 벌어지고 있는 동성애 관련 찬반 논쟁을 살펴보고자 한다. 동성애 문제를 바라보는 상반된 입장을 통해서, 궁극적으로는 다문화를 이해하고 수용하는 일이 얼마나 어려운 과정인지를 다시 한번 확인하고, 나아가 그럼에도 불구하고, 다문화를 수용하고 보듬을 수 있는 길을 모색해 보려는 것이다. 이런 관점에서 이 글은 우선 ‘동성애’ 논의의 찬반 논쟁의 근거가 되고 있는 성서에 주목할 것이다. 성서에서의 동성애 장면을 확인해 보고, 동성애에 대한 해석상의 관점에 따라 나누어지는 비판론자와 옹호론자의 입장을 살펴보고자 한다. 그리고 이와 연관하여 동성애에 대한 한국 기독교계의 일반적인 입장도 확인하도록 한다. 그런 다음, 다문화 현상을 바라보는 오늘 우리 사회의 모습을 ‘우리’ 對 ‘그들’의 입장에서 살펴보고, 다문화 시대에 요청되는 지혜로운 삶의 방식에 대해 생각해 보고자 한다

The main purpose of this paper is to suggest a reasonable attitude in multi-cultural era. There are many problems in multi-cultural era because of various cultural differences. I think the most important problem is conflict of culture. So we are interested in this fact. Summarizing this problem, does universal culture can be co-exist with special culture? Through discussing about homosexuality in christian circle in Korea, we will find an answer that problem. The reason why I will deal christian approach in this article has two aims. Firstly, to recognize problem of ‘plurality’, secondly, to find out a clue in terms of inspect of co-exist instead of conflict in multi-cultural era. In this context, First of all I will discuss about the debate on homosexuality in christian circle. For this problem, I will confirm the scene of homosexuality in the Bible, and I will discuss the problem of interpretation of homosexuality. And then we will deal the general position of christian circle in Korea. Finally we will think about a reasonable way of life in multi-cultural era.
