The objective of this paper is to explore the different ways Korean and Chinese speakers construe an event by investigating the discrepancy of voice through translating Chinese causative sentences('CCS' henceforth) into Korean. It is not hard to find the phenomenon where CCS are changed into other voiced sentences when we interpret them into Korean. This might be an opportunity for us to better understand preferences of linguistic forms between Korean and Chinese speakers. This paper is formed by following discussions: (1) to examine the relation between voice and subject; (2) to discuss about the animacy hierarchy of Korean and Chinese subjects; (3) to design interpreting patterns of CCS into Korean; (4) to illustrate the discrepancy of voice between Korean and Chinese through the analysis of interpreting patterns of CCS into Korean.
