Zhu Dexi(1982) summarized the functions of modal particle ‘ne’ as to indicate progression or continuation ‘ne1’; to show an interrogative mood by using it with a specific interrogation‘ne2’; And to express the attitudes or emotions of a speaker ‘ne3’. But this study questions whether the functions of ‘ne’ can be categorized into only the three instances mentioned above. Therefore, this study aims to reconsideration the functions of ‘ne’ from an educational point of view, with a focus on progressive aspect and specific interrogation.
