알모도바르의 <그녀에게>(2002)는 욕망의 환유가 만들어 내는 사랑의 반복과 변주를 보여준다. 반복과 변주로 이루어진 영화의 구성은 들뢰즈의 ‘리토르넬로 ritornello’의 개념으로 설명할 수 있다. 리토르넬로는 반복과 차이를 통해 변화와 생성을 만들어 낸다. <그녀에게>의 반복과 변주의 구조는 여러 층위에서 이루어진다. 발레 공연, 투우, 마르코의 눈물 같은 반복되는 장면과 이야기는 서사의 구조를 만든다. 소리로 표현된 것이 이미지로 반복되고 같은 이미지가 여러 번 등장한다. 이러한 반복은 이야기를 만들고 차이를 보여주며 사랑과 욕망의 움직임이 만드는 변화, 관계의 변화를 보여준다. 색의 움직임도 반복과 변주로 이루어져 있다. 색은 음악의 리듬처럼 움직이며 감정의 전이를, 정서의 울림을 표현한다. 사랑과 욕망을 의미하는 붉은 색과 녹색은 고통과 죽음을 표현하는 흰색과 검은 색을 몰아내고 영화의 공간을 죽음에서 삶으로, 고통에서 희망으로 변화시킨다. 반복되고 변주되는 얼굴의 클로즈업도 사랑의 관계를 의미하는 중요한 표현이다. 베니그노의 시선과 알리시아의 얼굴 클로즈업은 식물인간이 된 알리시아가 베니그노의 말을 알아듣고 보는 사람처럼 느끼게 만든다. 베니그노의 이야기하기 또한 반복되고 변주된다. 베니그노는 이야기하는 사람이다. 이야기하는 주체와 대상, 주관과 객관의 관계를 모호하게 만들고 전복시킨다. 이야기 꾸미기는 ‘타자 - 되기’이다. 베니그노는 <줄어든 애인>에 대한 이야기를 하면서 자신이 영화 속 주인공처럼 되기를 원한다. 알모도바르에게 영화를 보는 것은 영화를 재해석하는 일이다. <그녀에게>속의 발레, 영화, 노래 공연은 허구와 현실의 관계를 질문하는 자아 반영 장치이다. 알모도바르에게 허구는 현실의 삶을 편안하고 즐겁게 만들어주는 것이다. <그녀에게>에서 허구 속의 허구는 반복되고 변주되면서 관객에게 영화를 보려는 욕망을 만들어 내는 장치가 된다.

Talk to her (2002) by Almodóvar portrays the repetitions and variations of love, which comes from metonym of desire. The film’s structure consisting of the variations and repetition can be explained by the core concept of ritornello by Deleuze. The movement of color is also composed of the elements, repetition and variance. Color expresses one’s emotion and sentimental state, like rhythms do in music. Red and Green, which symbolize love and desire, expel the White and Black, which means pain and death. The repetition and variations seen in closed-up shots are also important factors, which reveal the relationship of love. As can be seen in Benigno and Alicia’s faces, their close up shots makes it seem as if Alicia, who is in a vegetative state, is able to comprehend and look at Benigno. The repeats and changes can be also seen in Benigno’s storytelling. Benigno is an orator, who makes the subject and the object of storytelling, and relationship between subjectivity and objectivity ambiguous and subversive. Deleuze’s definition of storytelling is ‘becoming another’. Benigno, by talking about a movie in the movie called Shrinking Lover, wishes to become just like the main character in the movie. Movie, ballet, and song, in Talk to her, are closely related to the subject of the film. These factors also compose fiction and reality, and arts and livings, which are the thoughts of Almodóvar. To Almodóvar, watching a movie is to reinterpret. Ballet, movie, and singing performance in Talk to her, are the self-reflection tools to question the relation ship between fiction and reality. In Talk to her, a fiction in a fiction repeats and changes so this becomes a tool to make audience luring to watch the movie.
