If a part of aestheticism is related with romanticism and the other part is associated with modernism, "the new sensation school" is the head of aestheticism and the whole body belongs to modernism. In the intertwining and continuing of modern culture and traditional culture, the works of new sensation school described decadence in end of the century emotion with strong aestheticism color. The aesthetic area in metropolis is a common feature of Shanghai aestheticism and new sensation school. Of European aestheticism writers, Wilde and Bodelaier, regard the metropolis as the beauty social space to reflect the modern city life of loneliness and despair. Then by the 1930s style writers of new sensation school, especially, the two writers, Ye-fengling and Shi-zhecun, showed the desires and grotesque of the modern city using aesthetic form of desires and grotesque. In aesthetic aspect of passion description, Ye Lingfeng described the passion from the initial lust of the flesh gradually to excessive feelings. In the meantime, Shi Zhecun never depicted sexual desire, but focused on the psychological aspect, which opened up in the history of modern Chinese literature of aestheticism. In the grotesque aesthetic side, Ye Lingfeng pursuit the strong dream aestheticism away from the reality. However, Shi Zhecun put the real and unreal dreams and hallucinations boundaries blurred in order to show the modern city as the mind of uneasiness. Thus if combining Ye Lingfen’s grotesque and Shi Zhecun’s aesthetic aspects, it could be better to reflect the melancholy mood in the end of the century. Therefore, here the aestheticism of new sensualism and decadent colors are discussed from an aesthetic point, historical and cultural background of the original works. This is favorable to study the urban novels in-depth, and beneficial to aestheticism - decadent literature and understand the characteristics of the literature of the New Sensation School of Modern Chinese Literature.
