This study purpose is to attain an in depth understanding of the meaning of simulation-use learning experience of nursing students. Specifically, attributable to the changes in the health care environment, there are difficulties for nursing students for performing a variety of nursing duties in clinical practice. To this end, simulation-use learning and learning experience of nursing students are necessary. The method is based on focus group discussion for data collection and Colaizzi’s method for data-analysis. The data collection period was from February 25, 2012 through June 5, 2012. The participants were 10 3rd-year students who had gone through a 13-week learning and they were split into 2 groups, and interviews that totaled up to 3 hours were conducted. In regard to the results, 12 subjects and 5 categories were derived concerning 57 compositions of meanings. The categories were described, in stages, as the following: “Realized the differences between theories and actuality;” “Errors were adjusted through repeated learning;” “Motivation for learning induced through self-reflection;” “Newly recognized the nursing discipline;” and the top-level stage of “Gained self confidence about the nursing discipline.” In conclusion, self confidence is very important for carrying out nursing duties as a professional. As such, this study by presenting positive effects of education that increase self confidence of students through simulation learning provides the basic material for future quantitative studies and the development of a variety of educational programs.
