이 연구는 경찰학전공 대학생들의 개인적 특성, 진로선택, 전공적응이 전공 및 학과만족에 미치는 영향을 파악하여 경찰학전공 대학생들에게 적합한 교육과정을 설정하고 효과적인 학과 운영방안을 마련하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 2010년 9월 5일부터 30일까지 전국의 대학교 중 경찰관련 전공이 개설되어 있는 대학을 중심으로 전국을 6개 권역으로 구분하고 그 중 15개교에서 경찰학전공 대학생을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 개인적 특성 가운데 남학생이 여학생보다 전공 및 학과에 더욱 만족하며, 학년은 학과만족에 부(-)적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 전공만족에는 진로인식, 학습에 대한 선호, 전공관련 활동에 대한 참여가 정(+)적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 학과만족에는 학습에 대한 선호, 전공에 대한 집중, 진로에 대한 인식, 전공관련 활동에 대한 참여가 정(+)적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 관련하여 여학생들의 전공 및 학과만족과 관련된 후속연구의 필요성, 진로에 대한 최신의 정보 제공 및 다양한 전공관련 교육과정의 개설과 교수법의 개발, 공공 및 민간기관과 연계하여 다양한 관련활동에 참여할 수 있는 기회 제공, 주의집중도가 높은 학업환경 마련 등의 개선방안을 제시하였다.
This study aimed to examine the influences of individual characteristics, major selection, and adjustment to the major on satisfaction of major and their department among college students majoring police science. By examining influence of those factors, it was designed to develop the effective coursework for the students. To do this, colleges which have the police science related department were categorized into six areas nationwide. And then fifteen colleges were selected as the subject of survey. The survey was conducted from September 5-30 in 2010. The results are as follows: Firstly, there was a gender difference on satisfaction. Male students showed a higher level of satisfaction comparing that of female students. And the grades showed a negative influence on satisfaction. Secondly, perception on the career, preference on studying, and participation to the major-related activities influenced the satisfaction of major positively. Thirdly, preference on studying, concentration on major, perception on the career and participation to the major-related activities had positive effect on the satisfaction of department. Based on these findings, the need for further research on satisfaction of major and department among female students, providing for the recent information on their job and career, and establishment for various coursework program related their major were presented as implications for improvement. Also, development of teaching method, providing the opportunity to take part in various activities with association with public and private institutions, and management on the environment which is suitable for studying were presented as implications.
