When the purpose of this study was considered, it was made as basic research to examine the muscle activity of hamstring in relation to quadriceps femoris muscle strength through the basic survey of ratio of taekwondo athlete's hamstring to quadriceps femoris muscle strength, and on the basis of this, to decide on the type of training for preventing the non-contact injury of lower extremity in the future. With regard to subjects to be surveyed, taekwondo athletes (n=10) and ordinary people who didn't practiced taekwondo (n=10) were used as subjects. Before and after a kick, the muscle activity of hamstring and quadriceps muscle was measured in taekwondo group and ordinary people group. According to the results of study, in taekwondo group, a ratio of hamstring to quadriceps muscle was 53.17±5.89% before muscle fatigue was caused, and 46.83±5.89% after muscle fatigue was caused, and no significant difference was shown. And in ordinary people group, a ratio of hamstring to quadriceps muscle was 54.34±5.69% and 45.66±5.69% before and after respectively. And significant difference was shown (p<.05). No significant difference was shown in comparing variations of the ratios between groups. When the above results are considered, it is thought that ordinary people have stronger possibility that a anterior cruciate ligament injury occurs in comparison with taekwondo athletes.
