소설의 명명법은 작중인물에게 이름을 붙이는 것으로, 작가가 작중 인물의 성격을 창조하는 방법의 기본적인 단계이다. 이는 독자의 습관과 작중인물에게 부여된 이름의 인상을 부합시켜서, 인물의 성격을 생생하게 드러내는 방법이다. 작가가 소설에 등장하는 인물에게 이름을 부여함에 있어서도 그 의도를 배제할 수 없을 것이다. 이 논문은 김유정 소설의 공간적 배경과 명명은 어떠한 관련이 있는지 살펴보았다. 그리고 명명을 통해 인물성격을 어떻게 그려내고 있는지, 우의적 방법, 아이러니적 방법, 별명을 이용한 방법, 관습에 의한 명명법으로 나누어 연구하였다. 공간적 배경과 명명의 관계를 통해, 비도시의 경우에는 ‘복’ 또는 ‘덕’자가 들어가는 명명이 된 경우가 많았는데, 이는 농촌 및 광산촌의 열악한 환경과 대조적으로 그려진 것으로, 아이러니 효과를 갖는 것이다. 또한 도시를 공간적 배경으로 하는 소설에는 남성 인물 여성 인물 모두에게 대부분 이름을 부여하는 명명법이 사용되고 있다. 이처럼 작가가 도시 공간의 인물과 비도시 공간의 인물 명명법에서 확연한 변별을 두고 있음을 보여주는 것이다. 우의적 방법에 의한 명명법과 인물성격의 관계는 작품의 배경과 조화를 이루며 주제를 드러내는 데에도 효과적으로 작용하는 것으로 드러났다. 별명에 의한 명명은 인물의 성격을 극명하게 드러내는 데에 기여하고 있다. 관습에 의한 인물의 명명법은 관직명이나 관습적 명명이 인물의 사회적 지위나 위상을 표상하는 요인으로 작용하고 있다는 것을 발견할 수 있다. 이렇듯 김유정의 소설에서 작중인물의 명명법이 인물의 성격과 깊은 관련이 있다는 것을 본 연구를 통해 살펴보았다.

Naming that indicates the Name of government office and identity has been used slightly in her work. in this way, I studied that the nomenclature in the play person, that there is a deep connection with the character of the person in this study.
