우리 문화, 특히 문학 사상에 그 어떤 사상보다도 많은 영향을 끼친 불교이면서도 아직 사상적, 문학적 가치 연구는 물론, 국역조차 되지 못한 승려들의 저술이 한우충동이다. 물론 번역이 만능일 수 없는 반역일지라도 정신문화의 계승을 위한 시대적 사명이다. 그 중 『대원집大圓集』은 극히 적은 분량이다. 그러나 18세기 초에서 18세기 말까지의 지사진실이란 한 세기의 문풍을 가늠하기에 충분한 자료적 가치가 있음은 물론이다. 판본 역시 칠언절구 「만탄준화상輓坦俊和尙」의 “벽연대 위엔 〜 구름만 두둥실碧蓮坮上▢雲微”이란 결구의 ▢ 1자만 탈자이다. 그러나 이는 전후 시적 이미지 연결상 ‘白’ 자로 쉬 유추되어 크게 문제되지 않는다. 그러므로 거의 완본에 준하리만큼 완전完傳된 편이며, 작품 역시 용사보다는 사실적 수사, 진솔한 체험적 서술이 더욱 핍진할 뿐만 아니라, 의도적 훈목이 아닌 체화된 선취가 오히려 부지불식간에 감화의 미학, 곧 우리 시문학의 높이와 깊이를 일층 배가했다 할 것이다. 본고는 동국대학교 불교문화연구원 한국불교전서역주 사업의 일환으로 『대원집』 번역을 의뢰받고 완역한 낙수로, 선사의 시세계를 ‘①불교시, ②승속간 교류시, ③산수시에 스민 선취, ④감계 및 풍자시’로 나눠 고찰해서 선사의 시 세계 이해에 이바지 하고자 했다.

Dae-won chi(大圓集) is a collection which consists of 10proses and 126poems. The part of prose consists of letter(書) between monks and gentry(mostly 50%) and a narrative(記․2), a memorial to the Throne(䟽․2) and a console later(慰章․1). And the part of poem also consists of four-line stanza of poetry(絶句․104), regulated poem(律詩․25), and five-character rhythm poems(五言排律․1). His poetry format is mostly a seven-character & four line stanza of poetry(七言絶句), however for the most regulated poems(律詩) have seven-character poems(七言) rather than five-character poems(五言). The collection of prose of Buddhist Order is published widespreadly in the era of the Choson Dynasty(the renaissance of Neo-Confucianism) than in the era of the Corea dynasty (the renaissance of Buddhism) Because literature of Buddhism admits the system of thought of Neo-Confucianism and come up with countermeasure about the coexist with Neo-Confucianism rather than establishing a system of independent thought of the Buddhism. As a results, many relationship poem between monks and gentry were made by the new tendency of as Inseparable Thought(儒佛不二), but many poems projected in the view of nature were just written. It is limitation of Buddhism, or literature of Buddhism that lack of innovation for establishing a land of Buddha, or enthusiasm for renaissance of popular Buddhism. The rhetorical Features reflected upon poetry literature of Dae-won Zen Priestis more increased realistic empathy from the natural rhetorical aesthetics, and specially implicit hue in the nature poems and relationship poems is realized genuine appreciation of the Dae-won Zen Priest's poems by Zen aesthetics of embodied doctrine(easy feature implemented from the Middle Ages to the modern age-present-day, or popular feature) rather than typical Zen poems.
