A Korean Herbal Pharmacist(Hanyakupsa : 韓藥業士) is a specialist in Korean traditional medicine. The role of Hanyakupsa in medical law is to sell by retail as a mixing one in various medical stuffs(藥材). A Korean Herb medicine(Hanyak : 韓藥) have been succeeded for a long time for not only social prestige and making identity, but also economic foundation and social regard of the healing arts(仁術). But its cultural traditions and knowledge heritages maybe will soon extinct because of no supplement of Hanyakupsa since 1983. The extinction of traditions of a Korean herb medicine is as much as loss of an important one of a national culture, not simple disappearance of one job. We all must draw up a scheme for succession of a Korean herb medicine. Therefore I suggest several basic devices for succession of a Korean herb medicine. First, a selective examination for Korean Herbal Pharmacists must be carry out in taking the form of the total officers(T. O) system. Second, It is necessary to complement a current medical law so that new Korean herbal pharmacists are succeeded efficiently traditions of a Korean herb medicine. Third, the establishment of ‘traditional Korean herbal pharmacists’ or ‘cultural successors of a Korean Herb medicine’ is one device for it.
