바이칼지역의 세형돌날문화가 처음 등장하는 시기는 관점에 따라 약 60-30ka의 어느 시점으로 추정할 수 있으나 아직 기술·형태적으로 이 세형몸돌의 석기군이 확인되지 않고 개별적으로 세형몸돌이 발견되어 추가적인 석기군의 확인이 필요하다. 체계화된 세형몸돌을 기반한 세형돌날문화는 세형돌날문화 1기(20-15ka)와 2기(15-10ka)로 구분된다. 바이칼지역의 세형돌날문화 1기에서는 쐐기형 세형몸돌을 주로 만들어 사용하였고, 대부분의 석기들은 격지와 길고 두터운 돌날을 이용해 제작하였다. 이 시기에서는 세형몸돌의 수량도 적고 세형돌날도 적극적으로 이용하려는 모습은 보이지 않지만 사용 범위가 확대되는 과정에 있는 단계라 할 수 있다. 2기에서는 세형몸돌은 양면박리원칙의 쐐기형몸돌을 비롯하여 준 쐐기형, 각주형, 부정형, 간단히 능 조정을 한 몸돌 등 다양한 몸돌이 출토된다. 석기군은 1기와 양상이 비슷하지만 소형화가 더 진행되었으며, 특히 작살이나 잎형찌르개 등의 사냥도구가 많이 나타나는 것이 특징적이다. 이처럼 바이칼지역의 세형돌날문화는 원시적인 세형몸돌의 출현으로 본다면 예니세이강유역 보다는 늦은 시기에 나타나고 셀렘자문화 보다는 이른 시기에 나타난다. 하지만 전형적인 세형돌날문화의 출현은 셀렘자문화 보다는 늦으며, 예니세이강유역과는 비슷하거나 좀 더 이를 것으로 추정된다. 석기군의 양상은 후기로 갈수록 소형화가 진행되는 양상을 보이지만 찌르개나 끝날긁개, 뼈로 만든 작살 등 특정 석기의 사용이 두드러지며 예니세이강유역과 셀렘자문화에서처럼 새기개의 적극적인 사용 경향은 잘 나타나지 않는다. 또한 세형몸돌은 예니세이강유역처럼 쐐기형몸돌이 후기구석기시대 최말기까지도 강하게 유지되지만 동북아시아의 경향성을 따라간다고 할 수 있다.
The first appearance of microblade industry in Baikal region can be assumed between 60-30ka. However, the stone tool group of micro core was not yet confirmed by techno-typological, and due to microblade core was found separately, additional group needs to be confirmed. Microblade industry which based on well formed micro core can be separated by first(20-15ka) and second (15-10ka) period. First period of microblade industry in Baikal region was mainly found wedge type core, and most of the stone were produced using long and thick blade as well as flake. This period is less quantity of microblade core, and also active use of microblade is not invisible. However, the range can be regarded as a step in the expanding process. Various microblade core has been excavated in second period such as wedge type core based on the bifacial flaking system, sub-wedge core, prismatic core, micro core have an indeterminate form etc. Stone group is similar to first period but smaller, and hunting tools like harpoon and leaf shape point a lot of appear is the character. Like this, in the appearance of ancient microblade core, microblade industry in Baikal is later than Yenisei basin, but earlier than Selemdga industry. However the appearance of typical microblade culture is assumed later than Selemdga indusrtry, but about same or bit earlier. The phase of Stone group is getting smaller as time goes to later period. But usage of special stone tool as point, end scraper, harpoon are marked, burin's usage is not really showing like in Yenisei basin and Selemdga industry. Also, micro core strongly keeps wedge type core until very end of the UP like Yenisei basin, but we can say it is following trend of North-East Asia.
