북조선의 ‘현대조선문학선집’은 각 시기별 조선문학에 새로운 의미를 발굴하여 재해석된, 또는 조선문학을 새롭게 재배치한 정전집이었다. 즉, 이 선집은 각 장르를 중심으로(작가 선집도 포함하여), 조선문단 전체의 지형도를 그린 문화정치적 기획의 산물이었다. 그렇다면 현재 남북에서 출간된 ‘선집(또는 전집)’의 차이는 무엇일까? 남한의 ‘현대문학전집’이 자본주의 체제의 ‘문화상품’인 반면, 북조선의 ‘현대문학선집’은 사회주의 체제 하의 ‘당 문헌’이다. 즉, 어떤 과장된 수사를 사용하더라도, 남한의 ‘현대문학전집’이 자본주의 체제의 ‘고급문화상품’이라는 점이나 북조선의 ‘현대조선문학선집’이 사회주의 체제 하의 ‘정치선전물’이라는 점은 변화하지 않는다. 하지만 북조선의 정전집이 남한의 정전집의 원리와 다르다는 사실은 중요하다. 이는 자본주의나 사회주의 체제에 따라 서로 다른 방식으로 정전집을 재구성했다는 사실, 또는 그러한 욕망이 발현됐다는 것이기에 그러하다. 이런 사실에 대한 인정 없이 진행된 논의는 자칫 ‘우리 식’ 연구만이 될 공산이 크기 때문에 더욱 그러하다. 또한 작금의 현실에서 남한 문학에 의해서 가려진 북조선 문학의 욕망에 대한 복원 작업도 절실하다. 즉, 지금의 현실에서, 남북 문학이라는 타자의 시선을 넘어선 새로운 방향성 또는 가능성을 발견할 수 있을지도 모르기에 그러하다.
‘A Selection From Modern Josun Literary Works’ of North Josun was the canonical collection where Josun literature on a period-by-period basis was reinterpreted by scouting for its new meanings or where it was newly rearranged. That is, the selection was the product of cultural and political planning which drew a topographical map of the whole Josun literary circles centering on each genre(including also anthologies). If so, what is the difference between ‘A Selection From Korean Literary Works’ published in South Korea and that in North Korea? ‘A Complete Collection of Modern Literature’ of South Korea is ‘a cultural product’ of capitalistic system, while ‘A Selection From Modern Josun Literary Works’ of North Josun is ‘party literature’ under the socialistic system. That is, even using any exaggerated rhetoric does not change the fact that the former is ‘quality cultural goods’ of capitalistic system or that the latter is ‘a political advertisement’ under the socialistic system. It is, however, important that the canonical collection of North Josun is different from that of South Korea in principle. It is because the canonical collections were reconstructed in different methods according to capitalistic and socialistic systems or because such desire was revealed. It is further because there is every probability that the argument made without recognizing such a fact will nearly become only a study ‘in our own way’.
