시민대학 강좌로 운영된 성인대상 독서토론의 강좌 설계 및 운영을 기술하고평가하였다. 강의 중심의 인문교양 강좌들과 차별화된 독서토론 방식을 선택하면서 절차성이 최소화된 토론 방식으로 강좌가 설계되었다. 대상 도서로는 문화인류학 교양서인 『낯선 곳에서 나를 만나다』가 선택되었다. 연령과 경험이 다양한수강자들 십여 명이 5회에 걸친 독서토론 수업에 참여하였다. 강좌 운영자의 역할은 토론 분위기를 조성하고 발언을 독려하는 것에 한정되었다. 이 강좌는 도서선택, 구체적 진행 방식, 토론 참여자인 연구자의 경험 등에서 성공적이었다고판단된다. 연구자의 강좌 운영 사례를 바탕으로 볼 때 추후의 성인대상 독서토론에서는 성인학습자의 특성, 그리고 독서토론이 요구하는 자기노출의 수준과 내용에 대한 고려가 필요하다고 판단된다.
This paper describes a book-discussion course in adult education program ‘Seoul Citizens’ University’ of 2014: how it was prepared, organized and evaluated from the viewpoint of a course organizer. Book-discussion course was a unique attempt in the program, where most courses were given by one-sided lecturing. 10 adults of various age and experiences took part in shared-inquiry discussion based on reading materials of anthropological reports. Course organizer’s role was limited to enhance participants’ opinion sharing. The course was evaluated overall successful, leaving several considerations regarding future adult-learners’ book-discussion courses. Two of them were adult-learners’ remarkably various characteristics and necessity of self-disclosure for fruitful discussion.
