본 연구의 목적은 북한이탈 청소년의 학교중도탈락의 영향요인을 밝혀보고, 그 결과를 근거로 사회복지 실천의 개입방안과 정책제안을 마련하는 것이다. 부모 양육의 질, 또래 관계, 자존감, 학교 문화적응 스트레스가 주요 영향요인으로 나타났으며, 각 요인의 직, 간접적 영향력의 정도와 영향의 경로를 파악하였다. 중도탈락의도에 청소년의 자존감과 학교 문화적응스트레스가 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 부모 양육의 질과 또래관계 등의 관계요인들은 직접적 영향보다는 이들 개인내적요인들에 매개되어서 간접적으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 결론에서 본 연구가 갖는 이론적 기여, 실천ㆍ정책적 함의에 대하여 논의하였다.


The purposes of this study were to investigate the factors that influence the droping-out of school by North Korean defector youth. In addition, our attention also focused on the structure of these path ways, so as to generate recommendations for social work practice and the resettlement policies of the government based upon these findings to ameliorate these high school drop-out rates. This study examined the effects of relationship factors such as the quality of the parent- child relationship and peer attachment, and personal attributes such as self-respect and acculturation, stress levels on school drop-out intentions and the mechanisms influencing these factors. The drop-out intention was used as a proxy for drop-out behavior. The findings of this study indicate that self-respect and acculturation stress were the two strongest influencing factors among the four predictors. The parent-child relationship and peer attachment did not exert any direct effect on drop-out intentions but contributed to the drop out intention indirectly, mediated by self-respect and acculturation stress. The implications of these findings for research, social work practice and government policies are also discussed.
