The Mysticism and the Aesthetic Modernity in the coterie magazine of the early 1920'sKim, Ok-sungThe writers of literary coterie magazine in the early 1920's refused the enlightenment of Choi, Nam-sun and Lee, Kwang-su. They inclined to the mysticism. That is based on the very subjective and private experience. Such characteristic of the mysticism can easily contact the imagination of poetry. The irrationalism of the mysticism has the potentiality of opposition to the moral of Confucianism and the reason of enlightenment. The writers of the early 1920's labored for the autonomy of aesthetics, by drawing the potentiality in the poetry. The 'soul' in the coterie magazine is the aesthetic self, that inevitably appears when taking in the mysticism. The 'soul' is the fictive self, that mediates the sensory world and the extrasensory world. And it senses the Mystik. It is free subject that is independent of everything out of itself. The writers of this time, acquired the aesthetic autonomy by taking in the soul and the Mystik. The soul and the Mystik are the antithesis of the modernity of enlightenment. They are taken in as a part of the aesthetic modernity. The poetics of the soul and Mystik influenced the national literature of middle 1920's. The poets of the national literature, attempted to implicate the traditional Mystik. And many following poets have taken the traditional mysticism in. The poetics of the soul and Mystik in the early 1920's is the origin of those poetics.
