본고에서는 나혜석을 근대로 향해가는 격동기 조선에서 문제적 위치에 처해 있었던 경계인이라 보고 지금/여기가 아닌 다른 곳에 대한 동경을 가지고 있었던 나혜석의 탈주욕망과 공간과의 상관성을 고찰하였다. 나혜석의 삶은 당시의 보통 사람들의 경우와는 큰 차이가 있었고, 그 진보적인 이념을 기반으로 하여 생산된 예술과 용감한 행동의 추동력이 남다른 공간의 체험을 통해서 발현되었다고 보는 것이다. 신여성 나혜석의 진보적 활동은 이질적인 공간이 충돌하는 접점에서 경계를 밟고 서 있던 경계인이라는 그녀의 지위와 관련되어 있고 그 그림과 문학은 거기서 산출된 예술적 결과물이라는 관점이다. 특히 본고에서는 하나의 공간이 개인에게 힘을 행사하는 크기와 방향을 고려할 때 나혜석에게 유독 새로운 공간의 체험이 많았다는 것에 의미를 두었다. 동경, 안동, 유럽 등 당시의 여성에게는 매우 특별한 공간인 외국을 비롯해서 국내에서는 학교, 신혼여행지인 묘지, 양로원과 거리 등 다양한 공간을 헤테로토피아라는 관점에서 통합하고, 그 공간들이 나혜석의 인생사에 어떻게 배치되어 힘을 행사했는지를 분석하였다. 특히 나혜석의 삶은 공간과 사건이 한 편의 작품처럼 연결되어 극적 구성을 보여준다는 점에서 각각의 단계를 중시하였다. 나혜석은 평생에 걸쳐 사건을 일으키면서 통제와 억압에 저항했고 그러한 저항의 결과로 새로운 공간을 끝없이 탄생시킨 인물이었고 그것은 결국 타자에 불과한 식민지/여성을 능동적이고 적극적인 주체로 변모시켰다.

Rha Hye Suk was a boundary and a problematic person in Chosun changed into modern society. I studied on the correlation between spaces and Rha Hye Suk's escape desire who had nostalgia not for here now but for somewhere. There were lots of differences between Rha Hye Suk's life and any other persons. The arts came from progressive idea and the force of brave act came from special experience of unique spaces. The progressive achievement of new woman Rha Hye Suk was concerned with the status of boundary who stood on the borderline to conflict with hetero spaces. Her literature and arts were artistic fruits from it. Especially there were lots of new spaces experiences in Rha Hye Suk's life. A space influences on a person in many way. There were Tokyo, Dandong, Europe as foreign spaces and Kyungsung, Kumkangsan, nursing homes and streets in Chosun. I integrated the lots of spaces into the viewpoint of heterotopia and I analyzed how the spaces placed and influenced into the time in Rha Hye Suk's life.
