2011년부터 사용된 새 중학교 『역사』 교과서는 짧은 기간에 만들어졌다. 그런 만큼 적지 않은 오류와 무리한 서술이 보인다. 검인정인 만큼 서술에 허용되는 최소한의 자율성이 생긴 반면에, 책마다 서술 기준이 균일하지 않다. 매우 작은 사실까지 서술한 책이 있는가 하면, 시간 순서를 혼란스럽게 서술한 문장도 더러 보인다. 또한, 오래된 학설로서 현재 학계에서는 거의 쓰지 않는 ‘전제왕권’이라는 용어가 대부분의 책들에서 여전히 사용된 것도 유감스럽다. 유적 사진, 유물 사진을 잘못 선택한 경우도 많이 보인다. 그리고 사진에 덧붙인 캡션에서 중대한 오류를 저지른 책들도 더러 있다. 삽화를 넣은 책들이 많은데, 역사적 실상에 부합되지 않게 그린 것들이 많다. 이런 오류들은 시급히 시정되어야 할 것이다.
The new 『History』 textbook for intermediate school course, published in brief period to fit the taste of educational authorities has lots of errors and irrational depictions. First, the standards that each textbook provides are not equalized. There are some textbooks not only describing trivial details, but also confusing chronological order. It is unfortunate that the concept ‘the Authoritarian Royal Power’ disappeared from new academic world as old theory is still found in these books. It is easy to find the errors using wrong pictures of ruins and artifacts. Moreover, many textbooks committed fatal errors in putting captions for several pictures. These errors should be rectified as soon as possible.
