한국 근현대사 속에서 개신교는 사회문화적 변동에 적지 않은 영향을 미쳤다고 볼 수 있다. 그러나 오늘날 한국 사회에 비쳐진 개신교의 모습은 부정적인 면도 있다. 교회는 세상 속에서 사회가 직면한 도덕적 위기를 극복할 수 있는 방향을 제시할 수 있어야 한다. 특히 하나님의 뜻을 구현해야 할 교회는 삶의 전 영역에서 정치 사회적으로 긍정적인 역할을 해야 한다. 이것이 교회의 선교적 과제이다. 올바른 교회의 선교적 과제를 설정하기 위해서는 지나간 역사 속에서 한국 개신교의 정치-사회적 입장과 행태를 분석해서 반성적으로 성찰할 필요가 있다. 그것은 신학이론의 틀이 아니라 이데올로기적 비판의 분석틀을 필요로 한다. 이 논문은 한국 개신교의 역사적 형성과 발전을 이데올로기 비판적 관점에서 교회-국가-사회 관계의 이론적 틀에서 조망하였다. 특히 반공주의와 같은 국가 이데올로기에 대해 ‘순응과 저항’으로 나타나는 개신교 내 보수- 진보의 상이한 모델을 분석하여, 진보적 기독교의 이데올로기 비판적인 저항윤리와 보수적, 근본주의적 기독교의 이데올로기 유착적인 순응의 윤리를 구별하였다. 그리고 필자는 이러한 차이가 신-인간-세계에 대한 신학적 이해의 차이에 근거한다고 보았다. 한국 개신교 윤리의 과제는 과거의 모습을 분석함을 통해 오늘의 개신교를 비판적으로 성찰하고 미래의 개신교가 발전해 나갈 방향을 제시하는 것이다.
Protestant has influence on sociocultural changes in Korean modern history. But there is a negative aspect in the image of Protestant which is shown to the Korea today. Churches should suggest directions for the society to overcome the ethical crisis which the society is facing in the world. Especially Church which should accomplish God's will has to play a positive role sociopolitically in the every dimension of life. This is a task of church mission. To establish a proper task of church mission it is necessary to reflect sociopolitical attitudes of Korean Protestant in the past history with analyzing them. It requires not the structure of theological theory but the structure of ideological criticizing analysis. This paper prospects the formation and development of Korean Protestant in the perspective of ideological criticizing analysis and in the theoretical structure of the Church-Nation-Society relationship. With analyzing conservative-progressive models within Protestant which shows 'adaptation and resistance to national ideology like anti-communism specially, this paper distinguishes between progressive Christian's ideological critical resistance ethics and conservative and fundamental Christian's ideological adherent adaptation ethics. Also I viewed that this difference is based on the difference of theological understanding about God-Human-World. The ethical tasks of Korean Protestant are to reflect the today‘s Protestant and to suggest the direction that future Protestant has to develop by analyzing the past.
