This study is aimed to evaluate Christoph Schwöbel’s doctrine of trinity for the constitution of ecumenical theology in Korea. His central thesis is that the ecumenical theology is to base on the god’s universality. According to Schwöbel implies the god’s universality the trinity of god as the ‘frame theory’ of Christian faith. With the doctrine of trinity as the ‘frame theory’ tries he to overcome the crisis of Christian faith in religious pluralism and to dialogue with other religions. First, Schwöbel finds the subjectivity of god in his acts of self–giving of god in trinity. The self–giving of god in trinity grounds the various churches and christian communities. He points the Problem of both exclusivism and religions pluralism. On the one hand compels exclusionist to convert and overlooks the act of universal consensus of God in trinity. On the Other hand relativize Pluralist the truth of christian faith and conduct to the tolerance and respect between christianity and other religions. Therefore emphasizes he to protect the particularity of christianity and other religions in dialogue between christianity and other religions and to cognize the universality of god as trinity in his act. Second, Schwöbel bases the universality of god on the his trinity. He regards the faith in human as his response to divine influence in revelation and the plurality of religions as the plurality of revelation. With historical analysis of ecumenical movements criticizes the anthropocentric ecumenical movement and focuses on the problem of referential identity of god. Referential identity implies the Plurality from Faith in the religious pluralism. Third, Schwöbel understand the doctrine of trinity as the frametheory of christian faith. Trinity means ‘relational unity.’ The theological response to the question of being of god is revealed not uniformly, but trinitarian. With the concept of trinity develops Shwöbel the european ecumenical theology. According to him is realized the identity of god in the current situation of religious pluralism, including the three identity in his history, and manifest the relational identity through the interdependent relations between god, jesus, spirit. If the gospel express the salvation of human in the trinitarian relation of god, are formed the confessions of various faith not in individual relation to the gospels, but from selfgiving of god in trinity. Finally, Schwöbel’s understanding of Trinity and his ecumenical theology show us, that christian theology should cognize the god’s universality for development of the ecumenical theology in conflict between religious pluralism and exclusivism and tries to dialogue with other religions.
