One of the most noticeable features to characterize “modality” and “mood” is the variety of approaches, definitions and considerations. This article reviews three different approaches to mood alternation (namely syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic) and what advantages / drawbacks each of them has. This article reviews three adverbial contexts under discussion, and focuses in one element such as the degree of integration between the main and the subordinate verbs in each adverbial context. Last but not least, I finish with the study of the role of mood in sentence complexity. Intento a exponer la selección de modo en la clausula temporal adverbial: desde el punto de vista pragmático. Me centro en este, ya que la perspectiva del hablante juega un papel más importante y es un perfecto complemento a un punto de vista de la selección de modos más funcionales. Además implica también la presencia de los otros dos enfoques, ya que en última instancia la perspectiva del hablante está ligada a ambos factores, sintáctico y semántico. Después de explicar estos dos puntos de vista, presentaré un punto de vista teórico mejor y más completo para explicar la selección de modos.
