이 연구는 인터넷에서 보이는 지역 방언의 쓰임 양상을 전반적으로 분석하고, 지역 방언에 대한 누리꾼들의 태도가 무엇인지를 살펴보는 것이 목적이다. 구체적으로 대표적 SNS인 페이스북과 트위터 공간에서 자료를 수집했다. 먼저2장에서는 인터넷 공간의 방언을 다룬 선행 연구들을 검토하고, 3장에서는 방언 사용 실태를 화자들의 의식성 여부와 방언 사용 동기 면에서 분석했다. 이어서 방언 사용과 관련된 몇 가지 사회언어학적 문제들을 검토했다. 4장에서는 트위터 누리꾼들의 방언 태도를 분석했다. 자료 분석 결과, 인터넷 매체가 지역방언의 사용과 확산에 크게 도움이 되는 것으로 판단되었다. 누리꾼들이 지역방언을 적극적으로 사용함으로써 표준어와 방언, 방언과 방언 사이의 균형과 상보적 관계 유지에 도움이 되고 있다. 한편, 누가 어떤 맥락에서 방언을 쓰는지에 따라 방언에 대한 태도 차이가 큰 것으로 확인되었다. 이 연구는 누리꾼들의핵심적 소통 통로인 SNS의 자료를 이용하여 방언 사용 실태와 방언 태도를 본격적으로 다룬 점에서 의의가 있다.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the usages of Korean regional dialects on internet, and examine the attitude of netizens about the regional dialects. The data of this paper were collected from Facebook and Twitter known as typical SNSs. In section 2, we review previous studies dealing with the regional dialects on internet space. In section 3, the dialects usages are analyzed from the viewpoints of speaker's consciousness and use motivation for dialects. Then we examine several sociolinguistic issues related to dialects use. In section 4, we analyze the attitude of netizens about Korean regional dialects. Following the results of analysis, it was confirmed that internet media is significantly useful in the use of regional dialects and their diffusion on net. Netizens actively use the regional dialects, and it is helpful to balance or complementary relation among the dialects of Korean. On the other hand, it was confirmed that the attitude about dialects of netizens varies according as who uses dialects in what context. This study is significant in that it dealt with the usages of regional dialects on internet used by the data of SNSs which are the main channel of communication for netizens nowadays.
