이 연구는 2008년 촛불집회에서 문화 테크놀로지로서 온라인 미디어의 새로운 양식과 이용자의 절합 양상을 기술하고 분석하여 그 의미를 짚어보고자 한다. 이 작업에서는 어떤 이론이나 개념을 전제로 하여 논의를 진행하기보다 연구의 발견과정에서 필요에 따라 기존 논의를 끌어올 것이다. 따라서 이 연구는 근거이론적 방법론에 입각하여 참여 관찰과 심층 인터뷰를 통해 나타난 내용에 근거해 촛불집회 당시 온라인 미디어와 이용자의 절합(articulation)이 빚어냈던 미디어의 진화와 이용자의 지위변화 등에 대한 다양한 개념화와 이론화를 시도할 것이다. 이를 통해 이 연구는 컨버전스 미디어 이용자들은 촛불집회 상황 하에서 유비쿼터스 집회, 실시간 민주주의, 개인화된 대중, 집단지성, 정서적 참여 공론장 등을 실천하고 있었음을 알 수 있었다.
This study is to dedicate the meaning by analyzing and describing the articulation aspect of users and the new style of online media in culture technology in 2008 Candlelight Demonstration. 2008’s Candlelight Demonstration is evaluated as a new alternative of future social movement, and on the other hand, evaluated as a lie and lunacy. This process requires the bringing of an existing argument and depends on the discovering process of the study rather progressing the argument based on a theory or concept. Therefore, this study joins the basic theoretical methodology and various conceptualizations and theorization. This includes status change of users and evolution of media, which was caused by articulation of online media and users in Candlelight Demonstration based on contents that were shown through depth interviews and participant observations. From this, the study shows that users of converged media fulfilled emotional participation public space,collective intelligence, individualized mass, real-time democracy,ubiquitous demonstration, and etc., under Candlelight Demonstration circumstance.
