現在、日本では研究、教育の分野でもグローバル化の影響を受けて「従来の領域の停滞」と「新しい領域への模索」という交代期の現象が見られる。これは日本語学や日本語教育など日本語に関わる部分ばかりでなく、他の領域においても同様の現象が見られ、大学は危機の時代を迎えている。その点では2012年の『日本語の研究』に掲載された学会動向は非常に象徴的である。そこでは「日本語研究の成熟」、「中心的な現象の分析から周辺的な現象の分析へ」、「コーパスの整備」という成熟、停滞の側面と、「言語構造重視から言語運用重視へ」、「単一的な研究方法から複合的な研究方法へ」、「研究成果の電子化の進展」という他領域との連携を模索する動きとが拮抗している。本論文では、後者のマルチ·ジャンル的研究方法の一つとして『台湾日日新報』のビジュアル要素と広告、記事見出しの言語テクストとの関係を調査し、両者が密接な関係を持って20世紀前半のメディアテクストを形成していった過程を示した。他の領域と連携し学術の危機を乗り越える模索が今後は重要である。
