최근 들어 리더들의 윤리성과 도덕성에 대한 중요성이 강조되고 있음에도 불구하고, 윤리적 리더십의 이론적 토대를 본격적으로 조사한 연구문헌은 거의 찾아보기 힘든 상황이다. 이에 따라 본 논문의 목적은 윤리와 리더십의 관련성을 설명하고, 윤리적 리더십의 핵심요소들을 제시함으로써 기업의 경쟁력강화를 위해 요구되는 리더십의 윤리적 관점에 대한 이론적 근거를 제공하려는데 있다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 윤리 이론을 총괄하여 윤리적 리더십의 이론적 근거를 제시하고, 왜 윤리가 리더십에 있어서 핵심적인 요소인지를 논하는 동시에 윤리적 리더십의 실행원칙들을 제시하고 이들의 의미를 설명하고 있다.
