This study focuses on the Hindu Sindhi diasporas in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Hindu Sindhis have been involved in large-scale migration for carrying out trade. Their shops and business are found in well over 100 countries, trading in anything from textiles to ground nuts. Hindu Sindhis are predominantly involved in business and long-distance commercial exchange. The present work introduces the field of merchant diaspora studies, which emphasizes the study of marital relations and business networks. Sindhis in Dubai have migrated in two phases; the first was in the post-War period of free market migration, while the second was a direct result of the political and social strife that came with the Partition of India in 1947. Hindu Sindhis are remarkable in terms of diaspora, because of their lack of a 'homeland' orientation. They do not have any single or agreed homeland among themselves, even within a family. Each of the Hindu Sindhis has been connected with many different locations, through familial or marital relationships and their business networks.
