The purpose of this paper is to review history of studies about the materials and methodologies of Hangeul Ganchal. It is (1)the approach by decipherment and interpretation, (2)the study of literature, (3)the linguistical study, (4)the micro-historycal study, (5)the calligraphic study. The studies of literature about Hangeul Ganchal is lead in the first half period, and the linguistical studies about Hangeul Ganchal is lead in the latter half period. The micro-historycal studies and the calligraphic studies is inactive. But the materials come to amplify, The micro-historycal studies shall lead in the future of studies about Hangeul Ganchal. This various method of study will continue. But the most important task is that lay a foundation for the scholarship of ganchal independently. And It be necessary to the database work and in-put work about all material. And in addition, It have to go side by side the study of Chinese writing Ganchal. At the end, It have to go from the scholarship of material to the scholarship of theory.
