The energy strategy of Putin's government aims at ranking among the Great Powers based on rich fossil fuels like oil and gas. To realize this dream of the Great Power, the Russian government has been implementing the so-called 'resource nationalism' policy. However, its energy policy lead Russia to losing its good reputation as a reliable energy supplier abroad and to facing the stagnation of resource production. So Putin's energy policy seems to produce harmful side effects and hinder Russia from ranking among the Great Powers. In this process Putin's government has relied on some types of cultural memory deeply rooted in the unconscious of Russians like 'Strong Father', 'Messiah consciousness', 'Mother-Russia', and ego-ideal centered on 'the West'. This study aims to search for the possibilities to transform positively the types of cultural memory activated in Russia society as "antithesis." The result would be that Vladimir Putin's ego-ideal of 'Strong Father' might be activated toward the wise and strong leadership, Messiah consciousness toward the self-sacrifice and commitment to global energy security, the self-image of 'Mother-Russia' could be conducive to making Russia respected as a 'real energy power' with universal Other-Father introduced into Russian female mentality, which might transform the West ego-ideal into a more universal one.
