A Constitutional Study on Impeachment System in the United StatesLee, Sang-YoonThe purpose of this study is to clarify the formation process of the American constitutional impeachment system, its historical development, importance characteristic and some problems or suggestions that the American impeachment system holds now. This study will give use of Korean impeachment system some useful suggestions. The important contents are as follows.The first chapter describes the Framers's understanding of Impeachment in the Constitutional Convention and the Federalist Papers, and Independent Council System in the impeachment trial of Bill Clinton. The second chapter describes the historical development of Impeachment by considering the Impeachment Trial of District Judge Harry E. Claiborne, Alcee L. Hastings and Walter Nixon, and the President Andrew Johnson, Richard Nixon, William Jefferson Clinton. The third chapter presents some suggestions and problems that the Impeachment System holds in the U. S. Constitution.
