소현성록은 남주인공 소경에게 투영된 어머니 양씨의 소망과 이념을 바탕으로 창작된 소설이다. 소경의 모친 양씨는 다처제적 질서의 질곡을 몸소 체험한 여인이다. 그렇지만, 외아들 소경을 통해 가문의 유지와 창달을 이루어야 하는 양씨에게 다처제는 받아들일 수밖에 없는 현실이다. 이러한 모부인 양씨의 이율배반적 소망에 상응해서 소씨 가문에 다처제적 갈등이 나타나게 된다. 그런데 역설적으로 이러한 양씨의 소망에 상응해서 주인공 소경이 효의 화신으로 그리고 성현을 능가하는 금욕적 인물로 형상화됨으로써 가문내적 갈등 해소의 계기를 마련한다. 이러한 모부인 양씨의 소망과 이념적 편견은, 가부장제적 질곡을 체험하면서도 그것을 벗어나지 못하는 사대부 부녀층의 꿈과 이념적 편견에 대응되는 것이다. 장편소설의 주 향유층인 사대부 부녀들은 가부장제의 질곡을 누구보다도 깊이 이해하면서도 그것을 넘어설 수 없는 현실 상황 때문에 오히려 가부장제적 이념의 이상적 실현을 통해 질곡의 해소를 꿈꾸는 사람들이다. 그렇기 때문에 부녀층이 즐겨 보는 장편소설들에는 가부장제로 인한 갈등이 형상화 되면서도, 표면적으로는 서술자가 당대 사회의 이념적 편견을 바탕으로 한 가부장제 이념을 표방하는 역설이 나타나게 된다. 주제어소현성록, 소씨삼대록, 이념적 편견, 가부장제, 이율배반적 소망
<So Hyunseong Rok> had been written popularly, so we can hardly read the idea which writter intended. Because the writter wrote it correspond to the request of the reader. So some researcher had misunderstood these problems. And there had been opposite opinions about the theme of <So Hyunseong Rok>. Some researcher asserted that its theme has related with patriarchal ideology, and another researcher asserted that its theme related with feminism. But in <So Hyunseong Rok> the writer narrate the story correspond to the consciousness of Mrs. So who is the mother of the hero So Kyung. And As She is a widow, she hope his son to recover his familial honors, and to do familial piety ideally. So in <So Hyunseong Rok> the character of hero became typical. He leads an ideal ascetic life. And he has ideal capability. And he solve the problems between his wives successfully. So it seems the writter to propagate the patriarchal system, but in fact his perspective is correspond to female readers hope.
