본 연구의 목적은 현재 일부 농․어촌 및 도서, 벽지 지역의 초등학교에서 실시되고 있는 원어민 원격화상수업을 위한 수업설계 원리를 제시하는 것이다. 이를 위해 설계기반연구방법(Design Based Research)을 적용하여 1, 2차에 걸친 형성적 순환의 반복적인 과정을 거쳐 수업설계 원리를 도출하여 현장에 실천 가능성을 확대시키고자 하였다. 이 과정에서 전문가 검토, 수업관찰 분석, 한국 교사와 원어민 교사의 성찰 일지 자료 등의 자료를 수집하고 분석하였다. 수업은 현장 수업 관찰과 동영상 녹화를 병행하였고, 한국교사와 원어민 교사의 성찰일지는 이메일을 통해 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 주제노트(thematic note) 기법과 중요 사건 분석(critical incident analysis) 방법을 통해 분석하였다. 연구의 결과, 원어민을 활용한 원격화상수업 최종 설계 원리는 수업 전, 수업 중, 수업 후의 3단계로 제시되었다. 수업 전에는 한국 교사와 원어민 교사의 협력적 수업설계 원리와 수업설계의 공유 원리가 제시되었다. 수업 중에는 Gagné의 9가지 수업 사태에 따라 제시하였는데, 각 단계의 특징을 구현할 수 있는 수업설계 원리를 원어민 교사와 한국 교사의 역할에 따라 구분하였다. 수업 후에는 수업 과정에 대한 성찰, 사후 점검을 통한 안정성 유지의 원리를 제시함으로써 화상시스템 결함으로 발생할 수 있는 문제점을 최소화하도록 하였다. 본 연구에서 제시된 최종 수업설계 원리는 원어민을 활용한 원격화상수업을 실행하는 현장 교사들에게 유용한 안내와 실천적 지침이 될 것이다.
This study aims at suggesting the principles of instructional design for videoconference class with a native English speaker which is currently implemented in some countryside elementary schools. Recursive design-based research twice was used to draw the principles and to make them applicable in real educational settings. Data were reviewed by subject matter experts in addition to the analysis of class observation and reflective journals of korean and native English teachers through this repeated researching process. The class was videotaped and observed directly and reflective journals were collected by e-mails. Thematic notes were transcribed and critical incident analysis was done. The results were shown in three stages; pre-class, during-class and post-class. Shared and collaborative designing principles of class are suggested at the pre-class stage. The roles of Korean and native teachers are differentiated in accordance with Gagné' nine events at the during-class stage. Reflection on class and reviews were practiced to support stability during class and to minimize technical problems which might happen during video-conferencing at the post-class stage. The designing principles suggested by this study provide in-service teachers who implement videoconferening class with a native English speaker with valuable practical guidelines.
