본 연구는 가정방문 유아교육의 초임교사를 대상으로 심층면담을 통해 교사로서의 역할과 그 역할을 수행하며 느끼는 정체성에 대해 알고자 하였다. 가정방문 유아교육은 일반적인 유아교육 기관과는 다른 조기교육으로 유아의 개별적 맞춤화 교육을 목적으로 교사의 역할이 중요시 된다. 즉, 가정방문 유아교사의 역할인식을 통해 형성된 안정된 정체감을 통해 효율적인 교사역할수행이 이루어진다고 볼 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 가정방문 유아교육 교사가 인식하고 있는 역할과 정체성에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 연구를 위해 유아교육기관 교사 경력이 있으며, 가정방문 유아교육 경력 1년 미만 초임교사 5명을 선정하여 10주 동안 심층면담을 실시하였다. 가정방문 유아교육 초임교사는 기관에서의 교사역할과 비교를 통해 유사성과 차이성을 찾기에 용이할 것으로 기대하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 가정방문 유아교육 교사의 역할과 의미로는 개별유아를 위한 교수계획-실행-평가자, 유아의 일상생활교육 및 부모상담자, 교육전문가로서의 변화와 성장을 위한 학습자로 인식하였다. 둘째, 가정방문 유아교육 교사로 역할을 수행하며 느끼는 정체성은 다중역할을 해야 하는 만능교사로서의 나, 감정을 억제해야 하는 정서적 노동자로서의 나, 주도적인 교육 전문가로서의 나, 부모의 평가로부터 자유롭지 못한 나로 인식하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 이후 가정방문 유아교육 교사가 정체성을 형성해 가는 과정과 의미에 대해 알아보는 것은 가정방문 유아교육 교사의 전문성 확립을 위한 중요한 연구가 될 것이다.
The purpose of this study was to determine novice teachers’ understanding of their role and identity during home-visits through in-depth interviews. Home-visit early childhood education is expected to have educational effects through individual customized education in general education institutions. Therefore, novice teachers in early childhood education who have less than one year of teaching experience were interviewed for ten weeks to determine the role and identity of home-visit early childhood teachers by making comparisons and observations about their teaching experience at previous institutions. First, our analysis shows that the role and meaning of home-visit early childhood is changing and developing into a teaching plan-practice-assessor for individual infants, teaching daily life for infants, mentoring to parents, and an education for home schooling. Second, in regards to the identity of the teacher of home-visit early childhood education, we feel these teachers view themselves as all-round multi-role teachers, emotional laborers who must suppress their feelings, leading educationalists, and teachers who are not free from the judgments of parents. In conclusion, studying the meaning of the role and identity of home-visit early childhood teachers is required to establish their professionalism as well as to conduct research about the expectations that parents have of home-visit early childhood teachers.
