본 연구는 사회부 기자의 성폭력 보도 경험과 그 환경을 분석하고 이들이 겪은 문제에 대한 대처과정 및 극복전략을 살펴보고자 했다. 이를 위해 현직 사회부 기자 또는 성폭력 범죄의 취재 및 보도경험이 있는 기자를 대상으로 심층인터뷰를 진행하였다. 본 연구의 연구방법은 사람들의 행동과사회적 상호작용 등을 바탕으로 수집된 자료에 근거하여 체계화된 분석 절차를 거쳐 이론을 창출하는 근거 이론적 방법을 적용하였다. 분석결과 개방코딩에서 49개 개념, 16개 하위범주, 8개 상위범주를 유목화했고 이를 토대로 실시한 축코딩에서 인과적 조건의 하위범주로 ‘언론 환경의 문제’와 ‘기자교육의 문제’, ‘기자 개인의 문제’가 도출되었다. 맥락적 조건은 ‘자본/권력의 작용’으로나타났으며 이는 중심현상인 ‘성폭력 범죄 보도의 선정주의’로까지 이어지는 것을 볼 수 있었다. 중재적 조건으로는 ‘기자의 윤리의식’이 작용하였고 작용/상호작용전략은 ‘기자의 외적/내적 갈등’ 으로 나타났다. 결과로는 크게 ‘집단적/개인적 대처전략’이 제시되었다. 선택코딩에서는 ‘성폭력범죄 보도의 선정주의’, ‘기자들의 작용/상호작용 전략’, ‘기자들의 집단적/개인적 대처전략’을 살펴보았다.
This study examined how local news reporters respond to their experience in sexual violence crime and environments of the report. Additionally, this study attempted to find out managing processes and coping strategies for several problems experienced by local news reporters. In-depth interviews were conducted with some incumbent local news reporters and some journalists who had experienced or reported sexual violence crimes. This study was applied with ‘Basis theoretical means’ which is a systematized analyzing process by grounded-theory method from personal behavior, social interaction. From an open coding result, 49 concepts, 16 sub-categories and the top 8 categories were classified. Based on this analysis, we performed an axial coding. “Problems of media situation”, “Training problems of journalists” and “Personal problems of journalists” were extracted by sub-categories of causal conditions. Contextual conditions were “Acts of capital and power” that resultingly could be seen as leading up to the “Sensationalism of sexual offenses reported” central phenomenon. Interventional conditions acted as “Journalist ethics”, and “Action/interaction strategy” turned out reporter’s “External/internal conflicts”. As a result of this process, “Collective/individual action" was presented massively. In selective coding process, we examined “Reporter’s experience of sexual violence crime”, “Journalist’s action/interaction strategy” and “Coping strategies of journalists”.
