『삼천리』의 외국문학 수용은 단순한 이식과 전파가 아닌 당대 조선적 근대문학의 기획의 일환으로 진행되었다는 점에서 주목된다. 『삼천리』는 당시 조선문학의 과도기적 상황을 극복하기 위해 서구 문학의 압축적인 소개와 중국 신문학을 통한 근대적 문학 언어의 형성을 기획한다. 그러나 이러한 과정에서 조선의 식민지적 현실에 대한 인식이 부각되며 이로부터 『삼천리』는 아일랜드 문학의 적극적인 전유를 기획한다. 그 결과 『삼천리』는 제국의 언어와는 다른 탈식민적 언어의 필요성을 절감하고 에스페란토어의 적극적인 소개와 수용으로 나아간다. 에스페란토어는 제국의 언어를 비민족주의적인 방식으로 극복하는 언어 형식이라는 점에서 당대 조선의 문학 성격을 소수자 문학으로 인식했던 『삼천리』의 문제의식을 가장 잘 드러낼 수 있는 외국문학 형식이었다. 이와 같이 『삼천리』의 외국문학 수용은 다층적인 방향으로 동시에 진행되며, 그 결과 당대 조선문학의 정체성을 소수자 문학으로 인식하고 이를 기획하기 위한 언어 형식으로서 에스페란토어를 수용하는 단계까지 나아간다. 특히 이 소수자 문학의 기획은 제국의 언어와 배타적 민족주의의 언어를 동시에 극복하려는 기획이라는 점에서 그 의의를 지닌다.
‘Samcheonli’’s adoption of foreign literature was not simply transplantation or diffusion. It was progressed as one of the projects of ‘Chosun’’s typical modern literature. In order to overcome the transitional phase of Korean literature, ‘Samcheonli’ attempts to establish modern literary language by introducing Western literature compactly and adopting ‘Chinese new literature’. However, these attempts gave salience to the recognition of colonial reality in Chosun. Hence the writing staff in ‘Samcheonli’ attempted to appropriate Irish literature actively. This lead to awareness of the necessity of decolonized language. As a result, they planned to actively adopt Esperanto. Because Esperanto was a linguistic form which can overcome ‘the language of empire’ in ‘non-national’ way, it was most appropriate way to demonstrate ‘Samcheonli’’s consciousness that the present Korean literature is the literature of the minor. As mentioned, the adoption of foreign literature in ‘Samcheonli’ was proceeding in these various direction simultaneously. As a result, they regarded present Korean literature as literature of the minor, and to present this idea they adopted Esperanto as linguistic form to demonstrate this idea. This project to form the literature of the minor was significant because it was the attempt not only to overcome ‘the language of empire’ but also to surmount ‘the language of the nationalism’ which was extremely exclusive.
