김준태 시인은 등단 이후 이러한 기대에 걸맞은 시적 행보를 보여줌으로써 7·80년대 ‘민족문학’을 대표하는 시인으로 평가받았다. 그러나 문단 안팎의 높은 평가와는 달리 김준태 시인에 대한 본격적인 연구는 미진했다. 이러한 문제의식을 바탕으로 이 논문은 김남주 시인과 천상병 시인이 김준태 시에서 공통적으로 발견한 ‘정직의 시학’이 김준태 시의 핵심적 자질과 특징이라는 것을 밝히고, 이를 토대로 그 시사적 의의를 가늠해 보고자 하였다. 김준태 시인의 시와 시론을 대상으로 추출한 김준태 시의 자질과 특징은 다음과 같다. ① 시의 대상은 민중의 현실이고, ② 시의 정신은 남의 정서, 남의 사상, 남의 아픔이 아닌 우리의 정서, 우리의 사상, 우리의 아픔이며, ③ 시작 방법은 정직하고 진솔한 언어이다. 이러한 시론을 바탕으로 김준태 시인은 농촌현실을 소재로 다룬 시들이 농촌현실의 구체성을 획득하지 못하고 소재주의로 전락하는 한계를 극복함으로써 농민시의 새로운 영토를 개척하였다.
After starting his literary career, Kim Jun-tae, a poet, shows his poetic move, as is expected, and is evaluated as one of the most outstanding poets who represents ‘national literature’ in the 1970s and 1980s. However, unlike high evaluation inside and outside the literary circles, the substantial research on the poet Kim Jun-tae is inert. Based on this critical mind, the paper tries to clarify that ‘The Poetics of Honesty,’ which is shown in Kim Jun-tae's poetry in common and which a poet Kim Nam-ju and a poet Cheon Sang-byeong discover, is the core quality and characteristic in Kim Jun-tae's poetry, and to discern its implicative significance based on this. The properties and characteristics of Kim Jun-tae's poetry, which are extracted in a poet Kim Jun-tae's poetry and poetic theory, are as follows. ① Subject of poetry is the reality of the people, ② Spirit of poetry is our emotion, our thought, and our pain, not other's emotion, other's thought, and other's pain, ③ A starting method is honest and sincere language. Based on this poetic theory, the poet Kim Jun-tae develop a new territory of peasant poetry by overcoming the limitation, to which the poems of having addressed by having rural reality as material, fails to acquire the specificity, resulting in degrading into ‘materialism’.
