The purpose of this study is to analyze the English Teacher Selection Test (ETST)listening comprehension items through mock test results of university students. This study focuses on 24 listening items during the past three years (2009-2011) of the ETST for secondary school. The subjects participating in this study were 54 freshmen majoring in English education. The reason that freshmen were involved in this experiment is that they were less exposed to the ETST than junior or senior students. The results of this study indicate that the average results of words per minute (WPM) show 174.2, which is an “average” level. The level of difficulty of listening items should be improved because 19out of a total 24 items were classified either easy or very easy. The calculated level of item discrimination categorized 11 items out of 24 as very good and reasonably good. However, the remaining 13 items are marginal items and need to be improved by revision. In addition, this research includes the analysis of the actual listening script recording of the tests with an English native professor.
