본 연구는 청소년들의 인터넷 상에서 행위 양상을 알아보고, 이와 관련하여 보다 발전적인 민주 시민 교육을 위해서 사회과 교육이 수행해야 할 역할은 무엇인지 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 청소년을 보호받아야 할 대상이 아닌 미래 정보사회의 주역으로서 새로운 문화를 만들어가는 능동적인 행위주체로 파악하고, 청소년들의 새로운 가치 정립과 교육 활용에 사회과 교육이 담당해야 할 부분은 무엇인지 모색해 본다.연구의 결과를 요약해보면, 정보사회에서 사회과 교육은 청소년들에게 책임의식과 규범성을 바탕으로 한 올바른 가치관의 확립에 많은 노력을 기울여야 할 것이고, 최근 활발한 양상을 나타내고 있는 사이버 커뮤니티를 잘 활용하여 새로운 공동체성의 모색에도 관심을 가져야 할 것이다. 마지막으로 인터넷을 활용하여 학습자들과의 적극적인 관계를 형성할 때, 효율적인 학습 효과는 물론 다양한 학습에 이용가능한 자원의 양도 증가할 수 있을 것이다.


The mode of Youth's behavior in cyberspace and the role of democratic citizenship education Bae Young Institute of Social Development Studies Yonsei University This study looked into real phase by clarifying what intention and behavior of youth show us on the internet through empirical survey and related it, explored the role which should be carried out by social studies education for the more constructive democratic citizenship education. In the normal aspect, former studies have regarded youth as objects who should be protected. but this study defines them positive subjects of behavior who make new culture as a leader of future information society, and investigates what parts social education should take charge of for new value defining of these youth and educational use. Social studies education must endeavor to define right standard of value judging which is based on social responsibility and norm, and through this education youth who are on the socialization process should be able to keep right way of life under social condition of information society. Further by practically using youth's cyber community which became lively recently, it must concern exploring of new communitarian thinking which include variety for better quality of life. After all when we use various materials for study practically on the basis of internet where youth are already acquainted with and form inter-constructive relations with learners, not effective learning results but also the amount of usable resources for the various learning subjects can be increased.
