이 글은 ‘2·13합의’이후 북미관계 진전의 내용 및 이를 바라보는 중국의 입장에 대한 분석을 목적으로 한다. ‘2·13합의’ 이후 북미관계의 급진전에 대해 중국은 북미 양측에 의한 ‘중국 따돌리기’와 한반도에서의 ‘영향력 약화’를 우려하고 있다. 향후 북미관계 진전과 북중관계 진전 사이에 불균형이 발생할 경우 중국은 대북 경제지원과 협력을 중심으로 북한과의 관계개선에 더욱 적극적으로 나설 가능성이 높다. 한편 북미관계 진전에 따른 동북아 국제정세의 변화 가능성은 한국정부로 하여금 보다 적극적인 대북정책의 전환을 요구한다.
This paper aims to analyse the China’s standpoint on the North Korea-America relationship improvement after February 13 Agreement. Now that the North Korea and America have developed a direct line of communication, China is no longer at the center of the action for nuclear disarmament. Although China will continue to host the six-party talks, China is feeling sidelined. Furthermore recently we can find the steps towards normalization between North Korea and America. As a result, China afraid of ‘China passing’ among North Korea and America and ‘weakening influence’ to Korean peninsula during the improvement between two countries.
