통계청에서는 2004년에 가계조사결과를 지역별로 작성하기 위해 소지역추정법을 연구하여 지역별 추정기법을 개발하였다. 본 논문에서는 직접추정법, 이중추출법, 지역단위 모형기반추정법, 조사구단위 모형기반추정법 등 2004년에 개발한 소지역추정법의 타당성을 검증하고자 최신의 조사결과를 적용하여 분석하였다. 그 결과, 25개 전체 지역추정에는 지역단위 모형기반추정법인 EBLUP1 방법이 가장 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 시·도별 추정에는 직접추정법이 더 효과적이고, 시·군·구별 추정에는 EBLUP1 방법이 더 효과적인 것으로 각각 나타났다.


The several methods of small area estimation in the Household Survey were developed by the Korea National Statistical Office (KNSO) in 2004. In this theses, we studied the adequacy of the developed methods - Direct Estimation Method, Double Sampling Method, Area Level Model-Based Method, Unit Level Model-Based Method - by using the recent real data. According to the results, the Area Level Model-Based Method (EBLUP1) was better than the other methods for 25 areas and for Si·Gun·Gu. But the Direct Estimation Method was better than the other methods for 16 Si·Do.
