본 연구의 목적은 손자녀를 전담 양육하는 저소득층 조부모의 정서적 고통과 관련 요인을 파악하고 그에 따른 사회복지의 실천방안을 제공하는데 있다. 이를 위해 연구자는 농촌과 도시로 나누어 대상자를 직접 설문조사하였다. 연구 대상자는 전라남도 고흥군에서 70명, 광주광역시에서 71명이었으며, 손자녀를 전담 양육하는 저소득층 조부모의 일반적 특성, 손자녀와의 관계적 특성, 손자녀의 특성, 조부모의 심리사회적 특성을 중심으로 정서적 고통과 관련 요인을 살펴보았다. 연구결과, 농촌지역의 경우 사회적 지지가, 도시지역의 경우 신체적 건강이 손자녀를 전담양육하는 저소득층 조부모의 정서적 고통의 주요 요인으로 나타났다. 그 외 관련요인으로는 농촌지역의 경우 신체적 건강, 양육스트레스, 주택2(전세와 월세), 양육사유 3(가출 및 생사불명) 순으로 나타났고 도시지역의 경우 사회적 지지와 양육스트레스가 조부모의 정서적 고통에 주요 요인으로 작용하고 있었다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 토대로 조부모의 신체건강, 사회적 지지, 양육스트레스에 대한 개입의 필요성과 그에 따른 실천방향을 제시했으며, 특히 농촌의 손자녀 전담 양육 조부모를 위한 주택관련 지원방향과 제도적 보호의 필요성 등을 제안하였다.
This study was aimed at investigating variables influencing the emotional distress of low income custodial grandparent raising grandchildren in country and city and suggesting practice strategies. For the study, This 71 custodial grandparent in Gwangju city and the 70 custodial grandparent in Goheong in Chella-do province were interviewed directly by researcher of this study. The survey was consisted of grandparent's socio-demographic variables, grandparent-grandchildren's relation related variables, grandchildren related variables, family related variable, psychosocial variables of grandparent's physical health, care stress and social support. Results showed that there were significant differences in degree of the contact frequency of children related variable and the physical health, care stress, social support of grandparent. Results of stepwise multiple regression analyses indicated that social support was the most powerful variable influencing the custodial grandparent's emotional distress in country and physical health, care stress were important variables influencing that in country. Specially, residing form 2(engagement or monthly rent), raising reason 3(abscondence or lost)were important variables in country. And physical health was the most powerful variable influencing the custodial grandparent's emotional distress in city and social support, care stress were important variables influencing that in city. Based on the results, the practice strategies for the custodial grandparent such as the support of national expense helping lower financial self-reliant regions for the custodial grandparent, service or program for social support, service or program for communication methods of grandparent, policy considering the unique situation about residing form and residing expense in country, the custodial grandparent's legal claim raising grandchildren comfortably were suggested.
