본 연구의 목적은 양로시설 입소 노인들의 성과 생활만족 실태를 파악하여 이들을 지원할 사회사업적 개입 방안을 모색함에 있다. 이를 위해 광주/전남지역 양로시설 7개소에 거주하시는 노인 중 의사소통이 가능한 65세 이상의 노인을 조사한 결과 149명을 분석 대상에 활용하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다.본 연구 결과를 통해 도출된 결론은 다음과 같다.첫째, 양로시설 입소노인의 성생활실태와 성인식도는 매우 저조 하였다. 둘째, 양로시설 입소노인들의 생활만족 실태는 비교적 낮은 생활만족실태를 나타났다. 셋째, 입소노인의 생활만족도에는 노인의 성이 중요하다. 특히 성인식도의 정도가 상인 집단이 하인 집단 보다 미래생활만족도가 높게 나타났으며, 성관계 유무에 따라서도 생활 만족에 유의미한 차이가 나타났다.넷째, 양로시설 입소노인들의 생활만족을 향상시키기 위해서는 노인의 건강과 생존자녀와의 관계가 중요하다. 다섯째, 입소노인들의 성관계 대상자들로는 배우자와 가까운 친구가 나타났으나 남자노인의 경우는 유흥업소 여성도 나타났다.

Especially, the group with high sex awareness shows higher future life satisfaction than the low sax awareness, there is differenced between the groups who have sax and don't. The fourth, their health and the relation with their living offsprings are of significance to improve their life satisfaction. The fifth, their sex partners are their mate and close friends and some male aged's partner are included prostitutes.
