본 연구의 목적은 두 가지이다. 첫째는 케이스 매니지먼트 프로그램이 재가노인들에게 보건․복지 통합서비스를 제공하는지를 밝혀보고자 하는 것이다. 둘째는 서구의 경험에 의해 만들어진 케이스 매니지먼트 과정 즉, 욕구사정, 서비스 계획작성, 계획실행, 모니터링 단계마다의 이론적 지침들이 한국에서도 잘 지켜지는지 아닌지하는 의문에 답을 하는 것이다. 이 두 가지에 답을 하기위한 연구 방법은 사례연구이고, 사용된 자료는 ‘기록물(documents)’이다. 연구결과 두 가지 의문에 대한 답은 다음과 같이 요약된다. 첫 번째, 서비스 대상자 5명의 클라이언트에게 케이스 매니지먼트 모델을 적용했을 때 5명 모두에게 보건복지 통합서비스가 제공된 것으로 나타났다. 두 번째, 케이스 매니지먼트 과정중 욕구사정단계와 서비스 계획 작성에서는 대략적으로 서구의 이론적 지침이 지켜지지만, 계획을 실행하고 모니터링하는 단계에서는 전혀 이론들이 지침으로서 준수되고 있지 않았다.
