The aim of the thesis is to examine Jo Ji-hun's critical consciousness and lyric poetics. The poetics of Cho Ji-hoon was established as a practical methodology that concretized the reality recognition of the salvation of people or building up the people corresponding to the crises of the nation (the people) in extreme confrontation of left and right camps right after the Independence. In addition, his poetics underlined the realization of modernity based on the organic combination with tradition through the criticism against modernist literature. In short, Cho Ji-hoon's criticism against modernism could be summarized as 'a refusal of something early modern and a return to traditionalism.' From this point of view, Chapter 2 of this study looked closely into the re-recognition for tradition and the current conditions of classical exploration shown in Cho Ji-hoon's critiques. Furthermore, Chapter 3 of this study investigated the organic aesthetics, the very aesthetic foundation intended by Cho Ji-hoon's poetics, and concretized it further in terms of realizing a lyric world view. Lastly, it examined that Cho Ji-hoon's lyric poetics has gone into the direction of pure poetics while emphasizing the vividness of poetic creation.
