The purpose of this study is to exam the meaning in its object 'Wang-Sipni'(往十里) in relation to 'Hung-taryung'(흥타령) or 'Yeokum-susimka'(엮음수심가). Although Kim So-wol's 'Wang-Sipni' is the most important work of his, its meaning has not been clearly revealed. Moreover, since its name was defined as 'folk poetry'(民謠詩) in a parenthesis as this work was published, this study is to point out the fact that the study has not been performed based on intertextuality. Folk ballads of West-provinces(西道) was having enormous effects on many poets of folk poetry at the time. In a sense of an individual writing folk poetry is different from folk-song, surely poetry aiming at folk-song, and so individual consciousness cannot be excluded fundamentally in folk poetry. Therefore, although folk poetry possesses a lot of elements of folk-song, it is within its own limit where it cannot be regarded in the same light with folk-song. However, in Kim So-wol's 'Wang-Sipni' we can see common elements found in 'Hung-taryung' or 'Susim-yeokumka', and it will be a meaningful work to exam this point in relation to his poetic theory.
