A Study on Homecoming-Motif in the Poetry of Baek Seok and Lee YongakKang Yeon Ho This study aims at examining homecoming-motif in the poetry of Baek Seok and Lee Yongak. For this purpose, this study investigated their poems as entire text and studied on their space imagination and attitude on reality of life. Especially, this study compared two poems which have homecoming-motif Space imagination on the birthplace is spreaded out in Baek Seok and Lee Yongak's works, which poetry related to the hard times, Japans colonizatian, normally shows the sense of family-loss, hometown-loss, country-loss, and so on. There is no homecoming-motif in the poetry of Baek Seok, because he has a gloomy view of life. Only one poet has homecoming-motif which has nihilism and pessimism of recurrence toward archetype space. His poetic consciousness possess the characteristics of fatalism and self-love. Though his poetic consciousness was not active nor enterprising, it showed his continuous process of question and answer on internal reflection of self. On the other hand, there are many homecoming-motifs in the poetry of Lee Yongak, because he has the border-consciousness on his birthplace because he lived in destitution and suffered from poverty. But he also longs very much for his birthplace. These consciousness operate on his poetic space as centrifugal force and centripetal force toward his birthplace. As a result, he repeats departure from his birthplace and homecoming.
