한국의 다른 문학 장르들에서의 사정과 마찬가지로, 한국 현대시를 이루는 장면들에서도 성적 소수자 문제를 다룬 시는 소수에 불과했다. 이러한 시적 흐름은 김현이 그간의 시적 작업을 『글로리홀』이라는 제목으로 묶어냄으로써 새로운 국면을 맞게 되었다. 김현의 시쓰기 전략은 크게 ‘수다스러움’, ‘각주 사용’, ‘연극적 기법 사용’ 등으로 나누어진다. 본고는 이러한 김현의 시쓰기 전략이 동성애를 둘러싼 여러 가지 담론을 문제 삼고, 동시에 동성애자 주체의 위치를 다시 묻기 위한 일종의 ‘장치’로 본다. 성은 생물학적인 것이기도 하지만 동시에 구성된 것이기도 하다. 성은 어느 한편으로 수렴될 수 없는, 그래서 ‘본질적으로’ 서로 중첩되고 모순적이며 갈등하는 힘들의 공간이다. 이러한 사실에 입각하자면 동성애는 억압 받을 이유가 없다. 그러나 지금까지 동성애는 ‘사회’를 언급하는 국면과 관련해서 한 번도 정당하게 논의된 적이 없다. ‘사회’라는 개념적 범주는 ‘국가’ 개념을 근간으로 하는데, 이 ‘국가’ 개념은 ‘생산’과 ‘소비’라는 틀, 다시 말해 동성애를 배제할 수밖에 없는 틀을 그 근간으로 삼고 있기 때문이다. 그 틀은 이성애를 옹호한다. 따라서 사회는 그러한 이성애를 자연적인, 그래서 명쾌한 것으로 포장해왔다. 여기서 문제는 ‘이분법’에 있다. 그렇기 때문에 퀴어는 이분법적 대립에 대해 급진적으로 의문을 제기한다. 『글로리홀』은 질문을 하고, 마지막까지 질문의 형식으로 남는다. 특화되었지만 아주 광범위하고 세밀한 코드들의 망라를 통해서, 그 연쇄적인 망을 통해서 퀴어적 사고방식과 퀴어적 글쓰기를 실현하는 것이다. 현실에서 동성애는 어느 샌가 법의 문제가 되어버렸다. 문학이 할 수 있는 일은 윤리의 것을 윤리의 영역으로 되돌려, 다시금 그것을 성찰하게 만드는 작용이다. 김현의 시는 새로운 시쓰기를 실험하는 과정에서 한국 현대시에, 그리고 동성애 담론에 중요한 실례가 된다. 그의 시들은 동성애가 맞닥뜨리는 현실적 문제점들에 대해 탐색하면서, 표층과 심층, 허위와 진실, 비정상과 정상과 같은 이분법을 근본적으로 의심하게끔 유도하는 힘을 시와 예술 정신을 통해 복귀시키기 때문이다.
As the situation of other Korean literary genres, the number of poems that treated sexual minority is small even in the scenes that comprise Korean modern poems. Such poetic stream has faced a new situation as Kim, hyeon compiled his meanwhile poetic works with the subject of Glory Hall. Kim, hyeon’s poem writing strategy is largely divided into ‘chattiness’, ‘footnote using’, ‘dramatic technique using’, etc. This research investigated various discussions surrounding homosexuality, simultaneously, viewed as a kind of ‘device’ to re-question the position of the theme of homosexuality. Sex is a biological thing, at the same time, is a composed one. Sex cannot be collected on one side, accordingly, a space of ‘essentially’ mutually overlapped, contradictory, and conflicting powers. Based on this fact, homosexuality has no reason to be suppressed. However, so far homosexuality has never been fairly discussed in respect of the aspect of mentioning the ‘society’. Since conceptual scope of ‘society’ is based on the concept of a ‘nation’, such concept of 'nation' is based on the frame that cannot but exclude homosexuality. That frame supports heterosexual love. Accordingly, the society has packed such heterosexual love as a natural, therefore, distinct thing. Here, the problem is in ‘dichotomy’. Therefore, queer radically suggests a question on a dichotomic conflict. Glory Hall asks a question, remaining as a form of question till the end. Nevertheless it was specialized, however it realizes queer style thinking and writing through that chain network, by including very broad and minute codes. The thing that a literature can do is to return the ethical thing to the ethical area, enabling to reflect on it again. Kim, hyeon’s poem is an important case of discussion over homosexuality in Korean modern poem in the process of experimenting a new poem writing. Because his poems return the power to the poetry and spirit of art by casting an essential question to the dichotomy such as surface and in-depth, fake and ruth, abnormality and normality while investigating the realistic problems that homosexuality faces.
