A Strategy of Sexualization in Criticism of the early Modern Korean Poetry

1960년대 말에 들어 초기 식민지 시대의 시를 여성성의 메타포로 설명하는 비평 담론들이 자주 등장한다. 다른 시기가 아니라 하필이면 1960년대 말에 초기 식민지 시대의 시작품들을 여성적이라고 규정하는 논의들이 잇달아 생산된 것은 1960년대 형성되고 있던 담론의 한 효과이자 60년대 담론 형성의 전략이기도 하다. 그 구체적인 양상을 살펴보면, 김현의 시비평에서는 전형적인 위계적 이분법 안에서 부정적인 함의를 갖는 여성성의 관념을 동원하여 60년대 세대인 그 자신들의 정체성을 확고히 하고 50년대 세대를 극복한다. 이는 50년대의 문학인 혹은 문학적 경향이 20년대의 그것과 여성주의적이라는 점에서 동질적이라는 담론을 구축함으로써 수행된다. 한편 김윤식은 여성적인 것의 타자성을 적극적으로 긍정한다. 일상시에는 혼돈과 죽음으로 배제되던 여성성이 남성적인 것의 전형인 억압적 파시즘의 시기에는 대항할 수 있는 유일한 것이라고 보았기 때문이다. 또한 여성 편향적인 것은 시의 미학적 품위를 유지하는 객관적 상관물로서도 긍정된다. 김윤식은 이와 같은 여성성의 개념을 빌어 종래에 비판받던 신문학 초기의 시 일단을 당당히 문학사로 재편입시킴으로써 주체적인 문학사 구축의 난점을 해결하고자 하나, 여성성의 타자성을 고착화시키는 결과를 낳는다.
